The Seattle Steelheads were one of the most successful teams in the early days of the ABA. Led by All-Star Connie Hawkins, the Steelheads won two division titles and made it to the ABA Finals in 1968.

The Steelheads' first coach was Jack Ramsay, who had previously coached the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA. Ramsay was a tough disciplinarian, but he was also a great motivator. Under Ramsay's leadership, the Steelheads quickly became one of the top teams in the ABA.
