"Why are you crying?" Solomon asked.
"I've lost my money," the boy said. "I had been saving it to buy a new toy, but I lost it all."
Solomon felt sorry for the boy. He reached into his pocket and gave the boy a gold coin.
"Here," Solomon said. "This will help you buy a new toy."
The boy was so happy. He thanked Solomon and ran off to buy his new toy.
Solomon continued on his way. He had not gone far when he saw another young boy sitting on the side of the road. This boy was also crying.
"Why are you crying?" Solomon asked.
"I've lost my money," the boy said. "I had been saving it to buy a new book, but I lost it all."
Solomon felt sorry for the boy. He reached into his pocket and gave the boy a silver coin.
"Here," Solomon said. "This will help you buy a new book."
The boy was so happy. He thanked Solomon and ran off to buy his new book.
Solomon continued on his way. He had not gone far when he saw a third young boy sitting on the side of the road. This boy was also crying.
"Why are you crying?" Solomon asked.
"I've lost my money," the boy said. "I had been saving it to buy a new pair of shoes, but I lost it all."
Solomon felt sorry for the boy. He reached into his pocket and gave the boy a copper coin.
"Here," Solomon said. "This will help you buy a new pair of shoes."
The boy was so happy. He thanked Solomon and ran off to buy his new shoes.
Solomon continued on his way. He had not gone far when he saw a fourth young boy sitting on the side of the road. This boy was also crying.
"Why are you crying?" Solomon asked.
"I've lost my money," the boy said. "I had been saving it to buy a new toy, but I lost it all."
Solomon felt sorry for the boy. He reached into his pocket, but he had no more coins to give. He thought for a moment and then he said:
"I don't have any more money to give you, but I can give you something else. I can give you some advice.
"The next time you have money, don't spend it all at once. Save some of it for later. That way, if you lose some money, you won't have to cry."
The boy thought about what Solomon said. He realized that Solomon was right. He thanked Solomon for his advice and ran off to find a safe place to hide his money.
Solomon continued on his way. He was glad that he had been able to help the four boys. He knew that they would all learn from their mistakes and that they would all become wise with money.
