The Death of George Pendle

George Pendle was found dead in his home in Pendle, Lancashire, England, on October 20, 1632. He was 60 years old. The cause of his death is unknown, but there are several theories.

One theory is that Pendle was poisoned. This theory is based on the fact that Pendle's body was found with a large amount of arsenic in his stomach. However, it is also possible that Pendle ingested the arsenic accidentally, as it was a common ingredient in many medicines at the time.

Another theory is that Pendle died of natural causes. This theory is based on the fact that Pendle was a heavy smoker and drinker, and he had a history of heart problems.

Whatever the cause of his death, Pendle's body never decomposed. This is a very rare occurrence, and it has led to much speculation about Pendle's life and death.

The Immortal Life of George Pendle

After Pendle's death, his body was buried in the churchyard of St. Bartholomew's Church in Pendle. However, his body was soon exhumed and put on display in the church. People came from all over England to see the incorruptible body of George Pendle.

Pendle's body remained on display for over 200 years. It was finally buried again in 1863, but his grave was soon vandalized and his body was stolen.

The whereabouts of George Pendle's body are unknown today. However, his legend lives on. He is said to haunt the churchyard of St. Bartholomew's Church, and his story has been the inspiration for many works of fiction.
