Our Mission
Our mission is to amplify student voices to improve education. We believe that students have the right to be heard and that their perspectives matter. We work to ensure that students are given a platform to share their ideas and that their voices are respected.
Our History
Let the Students Speak was founded in 2015 by a group of educators who were frustrated by the lack of student voice in education. We believed that students were not being given a fair chance to share their thoughts and ideas, and that this was having a negative impact on their education.
Since our founding, we have grown into a national organization with chapters in over 20 states. We have worked with thousands of students to amplify their voices and improve education. Our work has been featured in the media, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and National Public Radio.
Our Work
We work to amplify student voices through research, advocacy, and programs.
Research
We conduct research to identify the barriers that students face to sharing their voices. We also research the impact of student voice on education. Our research has been used to inform policy and practice at the local, state, and national levels.
Advocacy
We advocate for policies that support student voice. We work with policymakers at the local, state, and national levels to ensure that students have a voice in the decisions that affect their education.
Programs
We offer a variety of programs to help students share their voices. Our programs include:
- Student Voice Labs: Our Student Voice Labs are designed to help students develop the skills they need to share their voices effectively. Labs are offered in schools and community organizations across the country.
- Student Voice Summit: Our Student Voice Summit is an annual event that brings together students from across the country to share their ideas and learn from each other.
- Student Voice Network: Our Student Voice Network is a network of students who are passionate about sharing their voices. Network members receive exclusive resources and opportunities to connect with other students.
Our Impact
We have seen firsthand the impact that student voice can have on education. When students are given a chance to share their voices, they become more engaged in their learning, their schools, and their communities. They also develop the skills they need to be successful in college, career, and life.
Here are a few examples of the impact that our work has had:
- In one school district, we worked with students to develop a student voice policy. The policy gave students a formal voice in school decision-making. As a result, students were more engaged in their school and their learning.
- In another school district, we worked with students to create a student voice committee. The committee gives students a platform to share their ideas and concerns with school administrators.
- In a third school district, we worked with students to develop a student voice curriculum. The curriculum teaches students the skills they need to share their voices effectively.
How You Can Help
